Julian Joseph introduces items from the first half of a concert given by Texan-born trumpeter Roy Hargrove for this programme in 2008 as part of the London Jazz Festival. Roy appears both with the 蜜芽传媒 Big Band and his own rhythm section, which features Gerald Clayton (piano), Danton Boller (bass), Montez Coleman (drums) and Justin Robinson (alto sax). He is much in demand today, and even in his early years, he recorded and performed alongside such important names as Shirley Horne and Oscar Peterson.

Roy also gives a taste of his current work, in previously unbroadcast items from the second half of the concert with the 蜜芽传媒 Big Band and new singer Roberta Gamberini.
