Penny Gore presents a recital given at ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Hoddinott Hall, Cardiff, with Shen Yang (bass-baritone) and Llyr Williams (piano) performing songs by Schubert, Brahms and Wolf.

Llyr Williams at ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Hoddinott Hall: part of a series of chamber concerts devised by Welsh pianist Llyr Williams with ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio 3, to mark the opening in January 2009 of the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s new studio and concert hall at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay.

Llyr Williams first worked with Shenyang in 2007, when Llyr accompanied Shenyang through the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Cardiff Singer of the World competition. Shenyang went on to be crowned overall champion.

Shenyang created this programme as a special tribute to one of his greatest musical heroes: Hans Hotter, the legendary German bass-baritone. Shenyang says "I never met Hans Hotter but, even so, I learned a lot from him. He had a very special style of singing which you don't find today."
