The Ulster Ochestra performs music recorded in the Ulster Hall, Belfast, as part of the 2009 ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Summer Concert series. The year's themes include French connections, Irish pianists and Northern Ireland's composers.

The programme begins with a performance of Milhaud's Le boeuf sur le toit (The Cow on the Roof) - a fictional American nightspot and the stage setting of a 1920 scenario by Jean Cocteau. Straight to the Point by Elaine Agnew is the featured work by a Northern Ireland composer and was inspired by a scuba diving trip to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. Dublin pianist Hugh Tinney performs Hamilton Harty's Piano Concerto, a work which shows the influence of Rachmaninov as well as Irish folk music.
