The Orb is the brain child of ambient genius Alex Paterson who has developed a template first laid down by Brian Eno in the seventies. Under the guise of Paterson and various transient members, including Youth and Thrash, The Orb has been one of the most important contributors to the development of the ambient music scene, lifting it out of the realms of new age and making it a vital part of the global club culture. The Orb are renowned mixers too with many big name acts such as Depeche Mode and U2 queueing up to let Paterson et al. work their magic on their prized songs.
