The late conductor Edward Downes and the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Philharmonic in Shostakovich's Symphony No 7, Tchaikovsky's Francesca da Rimini, plus music by Prokofiev and Rimsky-Korsakov.

Series celebrating the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ work of the late conductor Edward Downes, focusing especially on the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Philharmonic, where he was principal conductor from 1980 to 1991 and thereafter conductor emeritus. Downes conducts his beloved Russian repertoire, including one of his most famous performances - Shostakovich's Leningrad Symphony, the culmination of his 80th birthday concert in 2004.
