In a special edition, the programme turns back the clock to sample the stand-out interviews of 2009.
A broad range of topics were covered, but there was one issue which dominated: climate change. HARDtalk travelled to Greenland to see whether the planet's climate is headed in a dangerous direction.
Other highlights include veteran American politicians like James Clyburn and Maxine Waters, and controversial intellectual Noam Chomsky on the impact of President Obama's first year in office.
The programme was also on Wall Street to mark the first anniversary of the global financial crisis, visited the studio of world-renowned sculptor Anish Kapoor, and talked to fashion and punk icon Vivienne Westwood.
