Ken Bruce presents Friday Night is Music Night from Television Centre in London. For the first time the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Concert Orchestra broadcast their regular Friday Night radio show from the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ TV's west London base - Television Centre. No cameras allowed but the orchestra pay a gentle nod to the history of the studios with Robert Farnon's tv sig tune medley - "Sounds Familiar". Guests include soprano Natasha Marsh and tenor James Edwards - who pay a birthday tribute to the music of Stephen Sondheim - celebrating his 80th birthday on Tuesday. And finally as we are just past St Patrick's Day the resident band from Mayfair's Punch Bowl pub - the Punch Bowl Band make their Friday Night is Music Night debut for some traditional Irish jigs and reels.
