Thursday - Sean Rafferty

David Robertson talks about conducting the UK premiere of the opera version of Tony Kushner's prize-winning play Angels In America, plus Ensemble Raro perform Schumann.

On Friday 26th March the opera "Angels In America", composed by Hungarian composer Peter Eötvös, has its UK premiere at the Barbican. The opera started life as a play written by Tony Kushner and was then turned into a Golden Globe winning mini television series before completing its transformation to the big stage. Conductor David Robertson and baritone Omar Ebrahim (who plays leading role Joseph Pitt) will be in the studio to discuss its operatic transformation. And piano quartet Ensemble Raro with guest cellist Adrian Brendel perform pieces by Robert Schumann and Peteris Vasks ahead of their concert at Wigmore Hall on 26th March.
Presented by Sean Rafferty.
