John Torode, and food writer and ingredients expert Gregg Wallace continue their search for the country's best amateur cook. It's the first of the semi-finals as the eight exceptional amateur cooks from the pick of the heats now battle against each other for the first time as they cook for their MasterChef lives.

They have to just one chance to impress the judges - cooking one plate of food that will demonstrate that they have the skill, palate, flair and commitment to set them apart from the rest and ensure their place in the competition. There is no room for error as the weakest cooks will be sent home, and their dreams of becoming the next MasterChef will be over.
