Andrew Neil and Jo Coburn have the top political stories of the day.

Councils are being told to cut red tape and crack down on so-called 'non-jobs' such as cheerleading development officers and communications waste strategy officers. What affect could this have on your local services? We speak to the head of the Local Government Association Dame Margaret Eaton and Dave Prentis of Unison.

Nick Clegg has announced plans for a referendum on whether to introduce the alternative vote. The Liberal Democrats hope it will be the first stage in their bid for a more proportional system. David Cameron and the Conservatives however, are less than keen. So what are the benefits? We speak to the Conservative's Daniel Kawczynski and Tim Farron from the Liberal Democrats.

And have the bankers got away with it? Bonuses are up and the government's new banking levy is a lot lower than they feared. So has anything actually changed? We get the thoughts of Angela Knight from the British Bankers' Association.
