The young Montreal-born Yannick Nézet-Séguin has quickly become one of the names to watch among conductors. He brings the orchestra of which he is now Music Director to the Proms for a concert that includes one of Wagner's early operatic overtures and Beethoven's groundbreaking 3rd Symphony. Orchestra and conductor are joined by one of the world's leading baritones, Simon Keenlyside, for Mahler's poignant songs setting poems by Friedrich Rückert on the subjects of life, love and death.
