Launching the Classics Season on Friday Night Is Music Night, Kirsty Young sets sail with a host of memorable castaways as Radio 2 celebrates Desert Island Discs.
The Classics Season is launched on Friday Night Is Music Night as Radio 2 celebrates Desert Island Discs with a glittering array of castaways live from the Mermaid Theatre in London.
Presenter Kirsty Young invites the likes of Ronnie Corbett, Julian Lloyd-Webber and Courtney Pine to perform previous selections. She asks others, including Maureen Lipman, Sheila Hancock, Paul Gambaccini and Jo Brand to recall why they chose a particular song to accompany their stay on the idyllic island. Mixing classical music, pop and a dash of musical theatre is the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Concert Orchestra, conducted by Roderick Dunk.
And join Kirsty Young and Sue Lawley in the interval as they reminisce about their favourite songs and castaways.
