Michael is shocked to learn who has been sending the poison pen letters. Is Fraser out of his depth with his new business partner? Jack's love life takes an interesting turn.
Leyla is excited about today's arrival of Zinnie. While the boys are warned within an inch of their lives to behave and make her feel welcome, Nicole is trying to speak to Michael about the letters she found. As usual, Michael is distracted, but one thing gets his attention - another letter - 'Your sins will find you out'. Michael and Leyla are rattled. If this person knows about Michael writing prescriptions for Leo, or the dubious 'sectioning' of Ruth, he could get struck off and lose everything. Eileen has asked them for a meeting today and in their paranoia they suspect, being Ruth's aunt, she might have something to do with the letters. It's a red herring, Eileen was merely breaking the bad news that their funding for the drop-in centre has been withdrawn. Michael thinks the letters could be from Nick Morrison, or worse still, his wife, Hannah. After all, her marriage was ruined by Nicole's involvement with her husband. Michael wants answers and calls Hannah for a meeting.
Ice Maiden, Hannah gives the Brodies a cool reception. She takes great pleasure in announcing she's bad mouthed Michael's character to the decision makers and that's what cancelled the funds for the drop in centre. While they establish she's a petty, vindictive besom, it becomes clear that she knows nothing of the letters. Michael and Leyla return to work, greeted by yet more hate mail. Michael's had enough and in a grand gesture, tears up the letter and throws it in the bin. Alone later, his curiosity gets the better of him and he retrieves the letter, 'This is not going to stop'. The printing is dodgy, with a thick black line running down the side of the page. An anxious Michael returns home. Conor's having printer problems and shows Michael his spoiled homework sheet, it's identical to the letter he's just received. Alarm bells ring in Michael's head. He stares over at Nicole, having to steal himself for the realisation that these letters may be from his daughter. Finally alone, he confronts Nicole and she breaks down. She explains she was trying to get his attention, just some reaction that wasn't just his anger all the time. She's sorry it's called hate mail. Nicole loves her Dad and they hug, agreeing to move on from here together.
Zinnie's first exposure to Montego Street is a grilling from Molly who directs her to the Brodies. Zinnie is clearly unimpressed. Things pick up when Zinnie starts to manipulate Nicole and she sets her sights on local hunk Charlie. Look out Shieldinch, there's a new minx in town.
A Heavenly Herbals van and driver arrives on Montego Street, much to the alarm of Fraser, who knows nothing about it. Cocky driver Ross explains it's courtesy of Thomas McCabe. This news sends a chill down Fraser's spine. He tries to hide his anxiety from Amber by spinning her lie after lie. Unemployed and desperate for work, Jimmy has spotted the van and seizes the opportunity to ask Fraser for some driving jobs. Fraser reveals it's McCabe's van and Jimmy realises just how deep Fraser is in with the gangster. Fraser tries to establish McCabe's motives, but is won over by his kind offer of free van and driver for his 'deliveries' which, surprise, surprise, never reach their destination. Fraser phones McCabe to grass on Ross and the three of them meet to sort out the debacle. Ross is fresh from a bevy session and an unimpressed McCabe gets his heavy to give him a kicking. McCabe invites Fraser to meet out some punishment, but lily-livered Fraser backs off. McCabe now has the measure of sap, Fraser. Shaken by the violence, Fraser heads to the Tall Ship for a stiff drink. A knowing Jimmy has seen that look before and buys him a whisky. Look out Fraser, McCabe's got you under his wing and it's a pretty dangerous place to be.
Robbie is ribbing Jack about his non-existent love life so Jack sets himself a challenge to make a move on someone before the day's out. His chosen target is Annie. Meanwhile, Charlie and Annie are flirting in the Tall Ship. There's an attraction between them but neither seem able to admit their feelings. Instead Annie winds Charlie up about his male prowess and, in a bid to make him jealous, enthusiastically accepts Jack's offer to come round to her flat later to discuss the festival float. Jack thinks he's on a promise and arrives at Annie's with two bottles of wine. He beings a charm offensive which Annie is not really buying. She accuses him of trying to get her drunk enough to go to bed with him. Jack surprises himself by admitting to her that his heart is not really in it, in fact, his heart is very much into somebody else - Gina.
