Ken Bruce presents the multilingual 12-piece ensemble Pink Martini, performing with the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Concert Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall.

Friday Night Is Music Night features Pink Martini performing with the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Concert Orchestra at The Royal Albert Hall earlier this week.

Founded by the classically trained pianist Thomas M Lauderdale in 1994, the twelve-piece ensemble performs its multilingual repertoire on concert stages, and with symphony orchestras around the world.

They've been described as somewhere between a 1930s Cuban dance orchestra, a classical chamber music ensemble, a Brazilian marching street band and Japanese film noir. Lauderdale describes them as "a rollicking around-the-world musical adventure... if the United Nations had a house band in 1962, hopefully we'd be that band."

For this performance Pink Martini are joined by vocalist Storm Large and Ken Bruce presents for Radio 2.
