Antaine Ó Donnaile and Cormac Ó hÁdhmaill take to our local waterways by sea kayak, travelling from Portstewart on the north coast, up the Lower River Bann, along the western shore of Lough Neagh, ending their epic journey in Benburb via the River Blackwater.
It's a journey that takes them six days, paddling up to 80 miles against the tide. Along the way they learn about the impact of the waterways on the lives of the people living along the banks in aspects of history, environment, sport and industry. On the first leg of the trip, Antaine and Cormac travel from the open sea at Portstewart, entering the Barmouth onto the Lower Bann. Come rain, hail or shine, they will make their way to their camp at Camus Wood by the night, meeting local rowers and history enthusiasts en route.
