Kelly-Marie finds herself on the wrong end of a benefit fraud investigation. Nicole questions Cammy's motives. And Charlie gets the blame when there is a flood at the Tall Ship.
Kelly-Marie and Dan are the picture of young love as they walk to work in the morning with Cal in tow. However, when Dan unexpectedly gets the day off he is slightly disturbed to find that Kelly-Marie is claiming unemployment benefit at the same time as working at the arcade. He is surprised to find that Kelly-Marie is so short of cash - but also has a slight ethical problem with the situation. Lenny Murdoch and the Mullen clan couldn't disagree more, and tell Dan to wind his neck in and live in the real world. Nonetheless, Dan's fears are realised when Kelly-Marie receives a visit from a DSS investigator, who is convinced that Kelly-Marie is claiming benefits fraudulently.
Kelly-Marie is shell-shocked, but Lenny jumps in, and puts his solicitor, Hamish, on the case. Despite himself, Dan can't help but say 'I told you so', and ends up pushing Kelly-Marie further away.
Kelly-Marie returns from her meeting with the DSS investigator with a clean record. Lenny had fiddled the arcade books to obscure any record of her ever having worked there. She is extremely grateful, but when she is out of the room Lenny reveals to Hamish that it was he who phoned the DSS in the first place. Hamish is confused until Lenny explains that he always knew he could get her off scot-free, however, now she's in his debt and there's a further wedge been driven between her and Dan. Hamish is astounded by Lenny's Machiavellian approach to family relations.
Kelly-Marie goes to tell Scarlett her news, but when they arrive at the pub there is an armed robbery in progress. Lenny and Dan try to intervene, but Lenny gets stabbed, however, Dan puts aside his personal feelings and ensures Lenny receives the best medical attention. The attacker flees.
When the dust has settled Dan and Kelly-Marie make up, each apologising for their own behaviour. However, Dan goes a step further and reaffirms his commitment to Kelly-Marie and Cal by insisting that he will speak to his lawyer about settling his divorce. It's time to look to his future.
Nicole wakes up in the new squat, hungry and a little careworn, but still happy that Cammy is looking out for her. A friend of his, Angie, comes to visit on his request and the three get along fine. However, as soon as Nicole is out of the room, Cammy's attitude sours, and he berates Angie for not making any money for him (she's clearly a prostitute, and he her pimp). Cammy tells Angie that he has plans for Nicole, and she's here to help him carry them out.
As the day goes on Cammy moots the idea of a party. Nicole is unsure, but Cammy insists that Stevie has been in touch and is keen for Nicole to enjoy herself. Cammy was able to smuggle a phone into Stevie, and with Nicole's phone out of battery, Cammy is her sole link to Stevie. Nicole reluctantly agrees to the party, and Angie sets about tarting her up, despite Nicole's protests.
Time passes but there's no sign of the lads Cammy invited, and he's getting a little antsy - desperate for a hit. Angie reveals that Nicole and Stevie had some money squirreled away at The Tall Ship, and Cammy's mind starts whirring. He goes off to rob the place (unbeknownst to Nicole).
With Cammy gone, Nicole and Angie get to talking, but it is not long before Angie gives the game away. Cammy is not in contact with Stevie. Nicole is horrified, and finds that the real reason Cammy is looking out for her is so that he can put her into prostitution, just like Angie. A stand-off ensues - with Nicole eventually making her escape from the squat. When we next see her, Nicole is thumbing a lift by the roadside - where is she going now?
Scarlett's day off is ruined when it is discovered that there's a leak at The Tall Ship and she is required to help sort it out. However, her day gets even worse when Cammy arrives, armed and desperate, looking for Stevie's money.
