Shirley throws herself into Heather's murder investigation, while Alfie and Roxy find themselves in an awkward position when the Vic hosts a party to celebrate St George's Day.

Shirley鈥檚 slept on Dot鈥檚 sofa. Shirley decides to offer a reward for information on Heather鈥檚 murder. Dot contributes, but Phil turns her away and there鈥檚 no money at the Vic either. Janine gives Andrew and Shirley 拢500. Shirley has flyers printed. Having earlier implored Shirley to come home, Jay admonishes Ben when he walks away from her. Derek discovers Phil鈥檚 dumped Shirley, but she rejects his offer of a drink. Tipped off by Phil, DS Crisp tells Shirley her flyers are putting his investigation in jeopardy. When Shirley questions Phil about their split, he responds cruelly. Later, Derek asks a plastered Shirley if she fancies a nightcap. She tells him to lead the way. Carol doesn鈥檛 understand Bianca鈥檚 angst when Ricky can鈥檛 send her money. Bianca asks if she can have Heather鈥檚 job but the launderette鈥檚 going to be unmanned in the afternoons. Carol鈥檚 wistful after receiving a postcard from Greece. Bianca covers when Tiffany reads out a text about a non-payment penalty. Tiffany and Morgan鈥檚 pet spider escapes in the launderette. They鈥檙e fed up of being poor; Dot tells them about wartime life. Bianca wants to claim housing benefit, but Janine won鈥檛 give her a rental agreement unless she pays market rent. Bianca鈥榮 got until Friday to pay the rent. Running Bianca a bath, Tiffany and Morgan leave the taps on and water starts dripping through the living room ceiling. Bianca鈥檚 anger quickly turns to amusement.
There are St George鈥檚 day celebrations in the Square and, after Derek guilt trips Jean, in the Vic. Roxy鈥檚 awkward around Alfie. They perform a Punch and Judy show and Dot leads the singing of 鈥楯erusalem鈥�.
Frustrated about their lack of sex life, Max books a nurse鈥檚 appointment for him and Tanya to discuss their options. Dismayed, Tanya admits she lied, she鈥檚 just not ready.
