Veteran Algerian diplomat Lakhdar Brahimi is the new UN-Arab League envoy for Syria. The 78 year old has succeeded Kofi Annan, who resigned last month after his peace plan failed to achieve a lasting ceasefire. As a senior Arab League official in the 1980's Lakhdar Brahimi brokered an end to the Lebanese civil war. In this ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ News Special he talks to correspondent Lyse Doucet about his fears and hopes in his new role.
