
Gigha and Rhum
An opportunity to view two programmes from the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ TV series Look Stranger, originally broadcast in 1971 and portraying life on the islands of Gigha and Rum.

The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ documentary series Look Stranger filmed throughout Britain between 1970 and 1976 and allowed viewers the opportunity to witness life in differing communities through the eyes of local people. In 1971, local resident Donald Macdonald explained how the Hebridean island of Gigha had survived the threat of depopulation and was now a place of beauty and prosperity. We also see how the island of Rhum was faring having been turned into Britain's largest conservation area at the time.
