I first visited Redcar ten years ago, as my partner鈥檚 family are in聽nearby Saltburn, and something about the combination of vast industry and seaside immediately thrilled me.聽 Since then I鈥檝e been back many times, and have come to really love this seaside town.聽 Without giving away the story of Take Me to Redcar, it鈥檚 based on a true incident that happened on Redcar beach a couple of years ago, and the response of the community to this extraordinary episode was, I think, really impressive.聽 Despite having been through some tremendously tough times over the last few years, people in Redcar seem to me to be terrifically strong, generous and warm and there鈥檚 a real sense of community there.聽 That鈥檚 what I wanted to write about.
