Tchaikovsky's romantic First Piano Concerto, which is full of wit and brilliance, should be an effective antidote to the bleak experience of the East Anglian coast as depicted in Britten's Four Sea Interludes from Peter Grimes. When AntonÃn Dvořák looked out at the New York skyline he gave a deep, sad sigh for his distant homeland and wrote one of the most memorable melodies in music.
