Nobuyuki Tsujii was touring Japan with the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Philharmonic in 2011 when the earthquake struck, and he has formed a special bond with the orchestra since then, with sold-out performances in a return tour to Japan, and at this year's Proms. Tonight he plays Grieg's ever-popular Piano Concerto before Juanjo Mena and the orchestra summon the mists and myths of Mendelssohn's atmospheric 'Scottish' Symphony. And we journey down the 'Mancunian Way', the theme of the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Philharmonic's season at The Bridgewater Hall, with a world premiere by RNCM and Manchester University graduate Emily Howard.
