Fernando Alonso was the fastest out the blocks in second practice last year for a race first held in 1967 and hosted by Montreal since 1978, with the exception of 2009 when no Canadian Grand Prix took place. His time of 1:14.818 saw him hold off Lewis Hamilton, a three-time winner in Canada, by just 0.012 seconds. Frenchman Romain Grosjean was third.
