Old and new creatively collide in this chorally spectacular programme launching the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Singers' second series of concerts at Milton Court. Directed by ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Singers Conductor Laureate Stephen Cleobury, the concert includes the two most famous pieces in the choral repertoire for large forces - the great 16th-century motets by Alessandro Striggio and Thomas Tallis - plus two contemporary works conceived on similar scale by Gabriel Jackson and Robin Walker. With other choral works for the unusual but seductive combination of choir and cello - including Norwegian Knut Nystedt's haunting Stabat Mater, and the world premiere of a new work by Ivan Moody - and cello solos including Carl Vine's sonically stunning work for cello and electronics, this concert offers a spectacular range of aural
experiences in the brilliant acoustics of this acclaimed new concert hall.
