Simon Rattle conducts the Berlin Philharmonic in Schumann's Symphony No 2 and Brahms's Symphony No 2. Plus Les Talens Lyriques in Rameau: Zais (Act 2).

As a prelude to Radio 3's 'Celebrating Simon Rattle' festivities next year, Afternoon on 3 this week offers a a chance to hear his recent cycle of the complete Schumann and Brahms symphonies. Today Sir Simon Rattle conducts their second symphonies.
Also this week, a rare chance to hear Jean Philippe Rameau's Zais from the Beaune Festival.
