Johnnie Walker hears 70s memories from Ron Mael, one half of the band Sparks. Plus another seven-inch single enters Johnnie's Jukebox.
Johnnie Walker celebrates the decade of Gloria Gaynor, Genesis and George Harrison.
This week he's joined in conversation by Ron Mael, one half of the group Sparks. One of the most striking bands of the seventies, Ron could often be found standing imperiously behind a keyboard with his distinctive pencil moustache. Their English-influenced sound was one of the most distinctive of the decade, with 2014 marking forty years of their landmark album Kimono My House. They contain to record and tour today, having not taken a break since forming in 1971.
Also on the show, Johnnie will revisit a moment from the decade courtesy of the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ archive and another classic seven-inch single will be added into Johnnie's Jukebox.
