Get set for weekend headliners The Charlatans and Hot Chip, as we bring you highlights from their performances at the Sage Gateshead for the 蜜芽传媒 Radio 6 Music Festival, presented by Lauren Laverne.

The Charlatans are back with their first album since 2010 and the untimely death of drummer Jon Brookes. The band first came to prominence in 1990 and quickly became associated with the Madchester indie acts of the time. While many of their peers fell by the wayside, The Charlatans have continued making music throughout the 1990s, 2000s and 2010s. Frontman Tim Burgess is no stranger to 6 Music, returning to familiar territory when the band takes to the stage at this year's 6 Music Festival.

Hot Chip have redefined electronic music with their blend of rave, folk and rock. Their passion for filling dance floors with addictive, eclectic noises and bizarre lyrics about monkeys and miniature cymbals show no signs of abating, with a sixth studio album due for release in 2015. Expect some tasters of their new work, alongside old favourites, as they take to the 6 Music Festival stage.
