Two residents prepare to leave Walford, but with word of their departure spreading, will all go to plan? Max's trial takes a turn, but will his family stand by him?
Lauren’s upset by a newspaper headline - ‘Father and daughter turn on each other in court’. Carol thinks Abi needs Lauren after everything Max has put her through. Lauren summons Jane with a phone call. Jane objects she can’t stop Max attacking Abi, but repeats he won’t be sent down. Lauren’s upset Tanya isn’t coming to see Louie because of the trial. Jane reveals she’s going to be a character witness for Max. Abi arrives, outraged to overhear Lauren visited Max.
Lauren claims Max is sorry for letting Marcus accuse Abi but points out she put Max in prison in the first place; she’s exasperated Abi plans to support Ben in court but won’t do the same for Max. Lauren knows Abi still loves Max and begs her to come to court. Abi relents but isn’t impressed when Max won’t look at her. DI Keeble is questioned about how and where Lucy was killed; Keeble states Lucy’s blood was found at the car dealership where Max worked. When Marcus interrogates her, Keeble hesitantly admits the blood can’t be dated to the night of Lucy’s murder, that Abi instigated cleaning it up and the killer blow could have been administered by a man or a woman.
Abi jumps up and shouts at Max. Lauren’s disgusted Max is doing it again. The judge orders Abi and Lauren be removed. Back at the Butchers’, Abi despairs that Max won’t stop until she’s arrested. Lauren promises Abi won’t be framed and calls to see Jane. Lauren thinks no real dad would do what Max is doing to Abi and orders Jane not to give evidence in court - Max is on his own.
As Roxy packs, Ronnie gives her a bag of baby things, adamant it needs to look real to trick Charlie. Roxy suggests calling off the plan but Ronnie refuses - with the court order Ritchie’s set up, it’s over for Charlie as soon as he tries to leave the country with Matthew. Fatboy’s unimpressed Charlie’s leaving without telling Dot. Charlie’s declares Ronnie’s dangerous and he’d do anything for Matthew’s safety. Vincent’s suspicious to see Roxy and Charlie loading luggage and Matthew into Charlie’s car. Charlie sees Roxy’s worried and insists leaving is best for everyone – they’re pawns in Ronnie’s power games. Roxy texts Ronnie - ‘heading off now’. In the café, Vincent questions Fatboy about Charlie. Fatboy claims he’s sick and gets flustered when Vincent presses to know if Charlie’s going abroad with Roxy and Matthew. Claudette overhears. Vincent claims he’s planning a holiday, to Kim’s delight. Claudette’s not convinced. Vincent claims he’s looking out for a mate.
Fatboy spots Vincent going into No. 27 and leaves Charlie a voicemail - Ronnie knows! Inside, Vincent fills Ronnie in but she rejects his help. Meanwhile, while Charlie’s car is pulled into a layby, Roxy texts Ronnie again. Charlie finally answers Fatboy’s call; he reverses the car and races off in the opposite direction. At No. 27, Ronnie takes a pill. She’s horrified by a text from Roxy - ‘he knows’. When Vincent returns home, Kim reports Pearl clapped for the first time. Claudette pointedly remarks it’s easy to miss things as babies change so quickly. While Vincent changes Pearl’s nappy, Claudette cancels a call on his phone from Ronnie. Outside, Ronnie leaves Vincent a desperate voicemail. Roxy texts they’re at Dartford East station and Ronnie hails a taxi. At the station, Roxy’s phone buzzes as Ronnie calls. Charlie’s suspicious that Roxy has her phone on silent. In the taxi, Ronnie leaves Charlie a threatening voicemail begging him not to take Matthew.
Meanwhile, Roxy tries to follow Charlie through the ticket barriers but her ticket’s spat out. Realisation dawning, she shouts for Charlie; he snarls he’s not stupid and Roxy will always be Ronnie’s puppet, before disappearing into the station with Matthew. Roxy beats at the barriers as Ronnie dashes in and demands to be let through. They hurtle onto the platforms but there’s no sign of Charlie. Ronnie suddenly spots Charlie with Matthew on the opposite platform – and the train’s coming. Ronnie pleads Charlie not to ruin Matthew’s life like Nick ruined his. Charlie stares at her as the train pulls in. Ronnie and Roxy race for the train but it pulls away. Roxy’s comforting devastated Ronnie when they hear a baby cry. Ronnie dashes into the waiting room to find Matthew in his car seat - safe. On the train, Charlie sits with his head in his hands, devastated.
