The bank RBS has released figures that show that between January and September this year almost £26 million was scammed from customer accounts.
RBS Group, which includes Natwest, says that from the scams its customers have reported, 70% of victims see NO recovery of ANY funds at the end of an investigation. From January to September this year almost 5000 of its customers have fallen victim to various scams - coming to a total of more than £25 million. The bank says that the average cost of falling for a scam has gone up by 40% since last year, to more than £13,000:.
