Post Office Church
David Grant goes to meet The Reverend Andrew Foreshew-Cain at St James’ Church in West Hampstead. St James’ has been revitalised by installing a post office, kids play area and retail space inside the church.
!Audacious
!Audacious is a large church that meets in central Manchester. It has recently launched a second campus in Chester. The church has a membership of about 3800 and has 3 services every Sunday in the Manchester building.
!Audacious is a largely independent church under the stewardship of the “Assemblies of God” Pentecostal fellowship.
!Audacious are involved with many small groups and community projects throughout the week but this Songs of Praise feature focused on the style of worship music used in their services. The church uses very contemporary music and services are loud and lively with their own band writing nearly all the songs used in worship.
Firefighters for Christ
Firefighters for Christ International was set up forty years ago in 1976, at a breakfast meeting in Southern California.
The Northern Ireland group began in 1998 and meets once a month in Belfast.
Its aim is for employees of the Fire and Rescue Service to encourage each other to live their lives for Jesus Christ.
Capital 2020
David heads to St Albans Acton Green to meet Bishop of Islington, The Right Rev’d Ric Thorpe, to hear about the Church of England’s strategy for growth in the diocese of London, known as Capital Vision 2020 ()
David meets the Associate Vicar Rev Mike Tufnell at St Albans Acton Green part of Christ Church W4, . The church was closed and on the verge of being sold when it was saved by a local petition signed by 5,000. Currently a building site with a marquee in the middle, it is re-establishing itself in the community.
