Sturgill Simpson Special

Ricky Ross has an interview with Grammy-winner Sturgill Simpson, one the biggest names in Americana, plus archive sessions and insights from his producer, Dave Cobb.

Sturgill Simpson recently won the Grammy for Best Country Album and was made International Artist of the Year at the UK Americana awards. Tonight he returns to Another Country where he had his first ever UK radio interview and session.

In a brand new conversation with Ricky Ross, Sturgill shares his love of Scotland, talks about the record he's dedicated to his young son and describes sharing a stage with country legend Merle Haggard. He also reveals how Glaswegian piper, Dougie Wilkinson, appears on his award winning album A Sailor's Guide To Earth. Sturgill shares the stories behind his three albums that have enjoyed big success on the Billboard country and pop charts.

In this special programme Ricky explores the musical influences of Sturgill, talks to his record producer Dave Cobb and revisits the two archive sessions he recorded for Another Country in 2014.
