Jonathan Swain looks forward to Sir Simon Rattle's appearance at the Proms wit the climax of Rattle's recording of Wagner's Das Rheingold. He also showcases young Proms artist Lise Berthaud, in Brahms's Apart茅 for viola and piano. His theme is music and mountains, with different composers' views of altitude and wildness, including works by Wolf, Kodaly, Schubert, Poulenc and Telemann. The American season continues with Samuel Barber's Prayers of Kierkegaard Op.30.
