Bill Bailey

Mark Radcliffe presents solo and is joined by comedian Bill Bailey, who talks about his passion for birdwatching.

Mark Radcliffe: playing some records and talking in-between. Chatting to him inbetween records today is comedian and musician, Bill Bailey. He is most well-known for his live stand-up shows - most recently Qualmpeddler, Limboland, and The Remarkable Guide to the Orchestra. His work on television includes programmes such as Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Black Books and QI. He was also the host of Bill Bailey's Birdwatching Bonanza in January 2010, and wrote and presented his award-winning documentary about Alfred Russel Wallace, Bill Bailey's Jungle Hero, in 2013. Alongside music and stand-up, one of Bailey's favourite pastimes is birdwatching, which he has been doing since he was a child in the West Country. His fondest memories are of family outings with parents, grandparents and cousins, ticking the birds off in his little Observer's Book of Birds. As he has said about those formative years, 'birdwatching gave a purpose to the day and a love of the natural world which has carried on into my adult life'. And here he'll be, talking of his twitching tales.
