Prom 55 repeat: Iv谩n Fischer, Budapest Festival Orchestra perform Brahms, Liszt and Sarasate

Ivan Fischer and the Budapest Festival Orchestra perform Brahms's First Symphony. Guest violin and cimbalom players join them for a selection of Hungarian dances and folk tunes.

Hungarian folk tunes run through the veins of Iv谩n Fischer and the Budapest Festival Orchestra, while Gypsy rhythms set their pulses dancing.
This concert 鈥� a true celebration of Hungary鈥檚 national music 鈥� traces the development of folk songs and dance, from their colourful, rough-hewn originals into virtuosic concert-hall reimaginings by Liszt, Brahms and Sarasate.
In the second half comes Brahms鈥檚 dramatic First Symphony, whose darkness and drama eventually give way to an ending of transcendent musical triumph.
