Live from Salford's MediaCityUK, Conductor Jiri Rozen and the ѿý Philharmonic perform Martinu's final symphony, his 'Fantaisies symphoniques', and one of Dvorak’s most popular orchestral works, his Serenade for Strings. They are joined by Ashley Riches for Mahler’s youthful song cycle, the Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen (Songs of a Wayfarer).
After this, Rumon Gamba conducts the ѿý National Orchestra of Wales in Knight in Armour, the early tone poem of Ruth Gipps which was premiered at the Last Night of the Proms in 1942.
