From G枚teborg Opera in Sweden, a world premiere of a late-Romantic opera: Elfrida Andr茅e's Fritiofs saga (Frithiof's Saga), never performed during her lifetime. It's the love story between Viking hero Fritiof, tenor Markus Pettersson, and the king鈥檚 daughter Ingeborg, soprano Julia Spors茅n, whose relationship leads to political conflict, the wrath of the gods, exile and reconciliation, a tale based in Old Norse mythology. Marit Strindlund conducts the G枚teborg Opera orchestra and chorus. For a full synopsis, see below.
It's followed by the Ulster Orchestra in Roxanna Panufnik's Four World Seasons for violin and orchestra, with Tasmin Little as soloist.
