To start this week, devoted to repertoire performed recently by the 蜜芽传媒 Scottish Symphony Orchestra, a work that has been deemed as Gra偶yna Bacewicz's opus magnum, her Concerto for string orchestra written in 1948, conducted by Miguel Harth-Bedoya. It's followed by Glazunov's violin concerto in A minor, with Kristof Barati as soloist. Then comes another masterpiece, Schubert's Symphony No. 8, Unfinished, with the ensemble under the baton of Kevin John Edusei. The afternoon returns to the Polish flavour that started the programme as Lukasz Borowicz conducts music from his fatherland: first, Jerzy Gablenz's Piano Concerto in D鈥慺lat Major, with soloist Jonathan Plowright, and then Ignacy Jan Paderewski's Fantaisie Polonaise, Op.19.
