Sgeulachd Maud Gonne, nà iseantach, rèabhlaideach is mà thair Seán MacBride. The story of Maud Gonne, republican, revolutionary and mother of Seán MacBride.
Chan e a-mhà in gun robh Maud Gonne gu mòr mar neach-brosnachaidh don bhà rd WB Yeats, bha tòrr nithean eile co-cheangailte rithe. Bha i aithnichte airson a taic do phoilitigs nà iseanta, a h-obair fad-bheatha airson daoine bochd agus airson prìosanaich. Is beag an t-iongnadh gu robh a mac Seán MacBride na cheannard san IRA agus an uair sin na bharastair chliùiteach ann an Èirinn. Bha Seán MacBride cuideachd na mhinisteir airson Cùisean A-muigh aig riaghaltas na h-Èirinn agus na stèidheadair de Amnesty International.
There was so much more to Maud Gonne than the woman who served as a muse to the poet WB Yeats. Historians and Gonne’s relatives tell of her republican politics, her work for the disenfranchised and her lifelong support for the for rights of prisoners. It is no surprise that her son, Seán MacBride was chief of staff of the IRA and later the most distinguished barrister in Ireland. He also served as Minister for External Affairs when Ireland was made a Republic and was one of the founders of Amnesty International.
