From Dowland to Disney with soprano Elin Manahan Thomas

Soprano Elin Manahan Thomas opens up a colourful selection of music from the inside - revealing familiar and unfamiliar works in a new light.

From her study in Sussex, soprano Elin Manahan Thomas sets up a playlist that鈥檚 full of the joy of making music. She reveals the many characters she鈥檚 played in Purcell鈥檚 Fairy Queen, from a nurse and a princess to a tree, and finds a connection between Dwayne 鈥楾he Rock鈥� Johnson singing in the movie Moana with running a choir at her children鈥檚 school.

Elin also chooses music by Mendelssohn that transports us to a far-off landscape, a cantata by Karl Jenkins commemorating the Aberfan tragedy of 1966 and an intense choral masterpiece by James Macmillan.
