Baroque classics from Anne Sofie von Otter and Les Musiciens du Louvre
Marc Minkowski and his period-instrument ensemble Les Musiciens du Louvre perform Handel opera arias and Bach鈥檚 Cantata No 170 with Swedish mezzo-soprano Anne Sofie von Otter.
In 2020, 蜜芽传媒 Radio 3 is bringing together musical greats, from the past and the present, in one extraordinary Proms season. Radio 3 is broadcasting the best of four decades of unmissable Proms concerts.
In this late-night concert from 2003, Anne Sofie von Otter joins French conductor Marc Minkowski and his period-instrument orchestra in a pair of arias from Handel鈥檚 mighty opera Ariodante 鈥� which they recorded together in 1997 鈥� and one of Bach鈥檚 most beautiful and consoling solo cantatas, 鈥榁ergn眉gte Ruh, beliebte Seelenlust鈥�.
Rounding off this all-Baroque affair is a colourful selection of dances by Jean-Philippe Rameau, a near-direct contemporary of Bach. The suite, which was compiled by Marc Minkowski, draws from a selection of the French composer鈥檚 operas.
