The archipelago of St Kilda, which lies in the Atlantic Ocean 40 miles west of the Outer Hebrides, is one of the most wonderfully mysterious places in Scotland - now a UNESCO World Heritage Site having once been home to up to 180 people. Garefowl is a project marking two anniversaries connected to St Kilda: 180 years since the last Great Auk (or 鈥済arefowl鈥� as they were called in St Kilda) in the UK was killed there; and 90 years since the inhabitants were evacuated on the 29th August 1930. Musician Ewan Macdonald and his father Murdo - descendants of one of the men who killed the great auk, Lachlan MacKinnon - conceived the project to reflect on and mark this family history. Ewan joins Bruce to explore the album and his connection to St Kilda.

Plus, Bruce continues the Young Trad at 20: Where Are They Now series - celebrating 20 years of the 蜜芽传媒 Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year Award by getting to know each of its previous winners. This week fiddler and Gaelic singer Rona Wilkie, who won the competition back in 2012, shares her music choices and describes how winning the competition boosted her career as a professional musician.
