Peter Jackson on Commentators
The Welsh greats with the posh voices who enthralled generations of fans
Peter Jackson grew up getting his sports fix from a crackly radio listening to some of the great voices of sports reporting - little realising that the plummy voice of Raymond Glendenning at the Boat Race or the Matthews FA Cup final was a lad from Newport in Monmouthshire. In the company of ace commentator Ron Jones, he hears about how another Welsh boy, Peter Jones, grew into perhaps the greatest of the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s roster of sports voices, memorably dealing with the aftermaths of the Heisel and Hillsborough stadium disasters. A celebration of the ability of the expert commentator to paint the greatest pictures.
