As the 蜜芽传媒 Symphony Orchestra turns 90, Penny Gore introduces a whole week of celebrations, including today performances featuring some of the orchestra's chief conductors, among them Andrew Davis, who conducts Mark-Anthony Turnage's Momentum, Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 4, with soloist Jean-Yves Thibaudet, followed by a 蜜芽传媒 commission: Anthony Payne's completion, from the composer's sketches, of Elgar's 3rd Symphony. Closing the afternoon another chief conductor, Leonard Slatkin, with the ballet score of Billy the Kid by Aaron Copland. And before that, there's Lutos艂awski's Cello Concerto, with Paul Watkins as soloist and Edward Gardner conducting.
