Sarah Walker with New Generation Thinker Tom Smith
Sarah Walker chooses three hours of attractive and uplifting music to complement your morning.
Sarah Walker chooses three hours of attractive and uplifting music to complement your morning and meets Tom Smith, one of Radio 3’s New Generation Thinkers of 2019.
Tom lectures at St Andrew’s University and his areas of interest and research range across German contemporary culture, from literature and film to Berlin’s techno dance scene. He also plays the viola and is fascinated by community responses to music of all kinds.
At 10.30 Tom shares some of his ideas with Sarah and dips into a selection of German music.
Plus Sarah plays a good-humoured symphony by Josef Haydn, a piece for violin, cello and orchestra by Saint-Saens with an enigmatic title, and a 500-year-old musical fire alarm.
