Ian Paice, drummer for Deep Purple, chooses his Rock God. Plus Johnnie marks the first studio recording for a legendary 90's band for 'This Week In Rock'.
Deep Purple have a long, varied and rich history. The band have had various line-up changes over the years, but drummer Ian Paice is the one consistent member throughout all the incarnations. One of the cornerstones of British rock, Purple are still very much alive and kicking. The released their latest album, 'Whoosh!' last August and had planned a tour to accompany the new material. While live shows may still be uncertain, it's good to be able to hear Ian's voice on air, waxing lyrical about his rock hero who captivated him as a teenager. For 'This Week In Rock', Johnnie heads across the pond to mark the first studio recording of a band that changed the sound of rock forever, at the dawn of the 1990's.
