Les Dennis tells Zoe about his role in Jimmy McGovern's, Moving On. Plus 蜜芽传媒 journalist Felicity Baker talks about her documentary I Can't Say My Name: Stammering In The Spotlight.

Les Dennis, one of the nation's favourite entertainers, tells Zoe about starring in a brand new episode of Jimmy McGovern's 蜜芽传媒 One drama Moving On. Les has worked as a comedian and presenter and over the last decade has been building up his credits as an actor. He has performed in a variety of productions in the West End and on tour, including The Provoked Wife as part of the RSC鈥檚 2019 series and previously as 鈥楿ncle Fester鈥� in the UK tour of The Addams Family. As a TV actor, he has played leading roles in Coronation Street, Midsomer Murders and Holby City. He's also worked with Ricky Gervais in comedies Extras and Life's Too Short.

Felicity Baker, 蜜芽传媒 journalist and producer, talks to Zoe about her documentary, I Can't Say My Name: Stammering In The Spotlight. Felicity has a stammer that she has spent her whole life trying to hide and struggles to say her own name. After revealing her secret to presenter Sophie Raworth, they swap roles as Felicity steps out in front of the camera to talk about what it鈥檚 like to live with a stammer. As they explore this hidden world, Felicity finds she is not alone.

As the new boy in class I suppose I should introduce myself properly: my name is Alan Kenneth Sorensen.听听And I was named after my parents鈥� old family 3 piece suite.听听No, honest!听听The Kenneth Suite apparently!听听Now, quite what the connection between a sofa and me coming into the world is I鈥檝e never really wanted to pursue.听听But there you are鈥�

So you now know me a tiny wee bit better.听听I think we all know it takes a bit of time to get used to someone new.听听It may cross your mind that if I tell you I鈥檓 Scottish Presbyterian you鈥檒l discover that underneath I鈥檓 really a miserable, greetin鈥�-faced killjoy whose motto is, 鈥淚f laughter鈥檚 infectious 鈥� we鈥檝e found the cure!鈥澨齈erhaps you鈥檒l be thinking that as a minister I鈥檓 going to be banging the drum for things like Lent - this time leading up to Easter when many Christians often give up things.听听听And you鈥檇 think it was invented just for presbyterians like me, 鈥淥h Lord, please make me thoroughly miserable for 40 days and 40 nights鈥ay my porridge be cold and may it be filled with gravel鈥�!鈥澨鼴ut no, actually, we mostly hang loose to such seasons, they鈥檙e far too enthusiastic!

听

But I鈥檓 hoping, that over time we鈥檒l get to know each other a wee bit better.听听And relationships take time.听听Hopefully, there鈥檚 always something new to discover about someone. And if you like it, you want to know more about them.听听That鈥檚 how a friendship comes about.听听Which for some reason I keep forgetting when it comes to faith.听听I keep thinking that I should know it all, understand everything there is to know about God. But just like a new boy in the class, I believe that God is someone that it takes time to get to know.听听Hopefully, we get intrigued, we spend time, and we get drawn to them.听听听Especially if God turns out not to be like a miserable Scots clergyman.听听He isn鈥檛鈥� in fact, as it turns out, the God I鈥檝e been discovering all my adult life - is Love.听听And this God wants to share it, to show it and for us to experience that Love more and more.听听
