Cardiff Week (3/4)

Welsh pianist Llyr Williams gives a recital from St David’s Hall in Cardiff featuring music by three composers who lived and breathed the piano - Scriabin, Schumann and Chopin.

Nicola Heywood Thomas continues this week’s series of lunchtime and evening concerts from Wales with this solo recital from St. David’s Hall from welsh pianist, Llŷr Williams.

LlÅ·r opens with a selection of Etudes from the intriguing world of Alexander Scriabin, from the unabashed romantic stylings of his teenage years to the heady complexity of his later works. In the second half, LlÅ·r begins what will be, for him, a year of special focus on the music of Chopin. Between, he presents the symphonically proportioned first piano sonata by Schumann, conceived as an impassioned love letter to the composer's beloved future wife, Clara.
