Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem star as Ball and Arnaz and it follows their journey as they face a crisis that could end their careers and another that could end their marriage.

I don鈥檛 know what you鈥檒l be doing at 2:50 this afternoon, but I shall be bowing before a king!听听I鈥檒l be walking my 5 year old grandson home from school and on a building near it there is a carving of what I think is King Neptune which he has re-named, Mr. Crownie, and every time we walk to or from the school we stop, and bow, and say, 鈥淕ood morning Mr. Crownie!鈥澨齌hen we both laugh鈥nd some passers by, emm鈥ass by鈥n a hurry鈥n the other side of the road!

听

It's just one of the wee bits of nonsense we鈥檝e developed between us.听听There鈥檚 a garden gate with two silhouettes of penguins on it.听听They鈥檙e now called Whirlie & Swirlie (no, I have no idea why鈥�) and we walk like penguins and say good morning to them when we pass.听听Likewise, they re-surfaced a wee side road last year and we pressed a penny into the soft tar at the edge of it and that is now firmly welded into the road.听听This is where we tell each other 鈥淏uried treasure! I鈥檓 rich!鈥� I鈥檓 telling you, childhood is far too good to be wasted on children!听听But one of the wonderful things that so many of us discover through having young people around us is that we have permission to play.听听Yes, you鈥檝e kinda figured out that behind all that nonsense with him are some suggestions or observations from me.听听He鈥檚 my co-conspirator in having a laugh.

听

I know it鈥檚 what parents and grandparents and other adults do 鈥� have a laugh with kids 鈥� but as well as it being good child-raising, I believe it鈥檚 also profoundly important for our well-being.听听I read a book once called Homo Ludens, where the guy suggested that we aren鈥檛 just Homo Sapiens, the beings that think, deep down we鈥檙e Homo Ludens 鈥� the beings that play. I know there are worries, we鈥檝e got them in our family; I know the world鈥檚 falling apart - it鈥檚 always been like that; but I鈥檓 pretty sure that one of the things God has given us to help us survive is the ability to find fun 鈥� if we look for it.听听And that鈥檚 just what I鈥檓 going to do today - look for some fun鈥ave a laugh.听 And if I find it difficult, well, I鈥檝e got a 5-year old to help me!
