Starting with a sprightly tune from I Fagiolini, then Britten and Reich, music for wind ensemble by Gounod and Ruth Gipps, and the fresh grass of Vaughan William's Silent Noon.
We begin today's eclectic In Tune Mixtape passing some time in good company with a sprightly tune from the vocal ensemble I Fagiolini. We make two forays into music for wind ensemble, with music by Gounod and Ruth Gipps, and hear two legendary instrumentalists - violinist Itzhak Perlman and Andre Previn -enjoying themselves in an arrangement of Scott Joplin's Pineapple Rag. After a visit to Aldeburgh for one of Britten's atmospheric Sea Interludes and percussion music from Steve Reich, we finish in the fresh grass "neath billowing skies" for Vaughan William's Silent Noon.
