Piano Magic - Peter Johnstone Trio In Session

Seonaid Aitken has award-winning pianist Peter Johnstone and his trio in session plus tonight's Song Book with Richard Michael features Neal Hefti's theme tune from The Odd Couple.

Seonaid Aitken has award-winning pianist Peter Johnstone and his trio in session ahead of their Glasgow concert next month which launches the 2022 Autumn Season of events as part of Jazz At Merchants House. Peter has recently been awarded a Gleneagles Scholarship and is former winner of the Young Scottish Jazz Musician Of The Year. He is a regular collaborator with saxophonist Tommy Smith, playing in his quartet and with the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra, but tonight the spotlight is on Peter鈥檚 skill leading his own trio featuring bassist Brodie Jarvie and drummer Stephen Henderson. Also on the show tonight pianist Richard Michael opens another chapter of his Song Book looking at Neal Hefti鈥檚 theme tune for The Odd Couple. Plus the latest mix of new releases and classics and updates on the jazz scene in Scotland and further afield.
